CIS added more days changing the deadline from November 30, 2012 to January
29, 2013 for Haitians to register again for an extension of TPS. Haitians
in Those in the US from Haiti that were previously found qualified for
Temporary Protected Status (TPS) may extend their TPS status for another
year and a half. The extension to re-file for TPS stems from to Hurricane
Sandy's impact on several neighborhoods where Haitians live in the
US, Re-registration had closed on November 30, 2012, but with this extension,
applications are permitted through close of day the twenty-ninth of January 2013.
It is encouraged that Haitians file as quickly as permitted. Filings from
eligible individuals, mostly from Haitians, that were submitted beyond
the close of the initial filing period on the thirtieth of November 2012
are being accepted by CIS. A word of caution as CIS does not specifically
note if the applications that had been filed late are accepted of if they
need to be re-filed. Repeat, the suspense date for all re-registration
application is prior to January 30, 2013.
Only those eligible to re-register are qualified estimates are that there
are about sixty thousand Haitians that fit the program. Note any Haitians
that arrived in the US after the twelfth of January 2011 are not qualified.
