Visa Waiver Program Travelers Receive Extension Opportunity from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

On April 17, 2020, CBP announced an opportunity to extend the admission period in the United States for Visa Waiver Program Travelers whose departure arrangements are altered by the current COVID-19 pandemic resulting in illness, regulations on travel, or cancellations of flights.

If granted the extension, Visa Waiver Program travelers would receive an additional 30 days to their admission period before needing to depart the United States.

Certain conditions apply to this extension opportunity including the requirement for travelers to apply for the extension prior to the expiration date of their current admission period.

Travelers who are interested in applying for the satisfactory departure may contact any local CBP Port of Entry or Deferred Inspection Site, or the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Contact Center with their passport number ready to provide.
